TEDxIBYork: Invites International Visual Arts Submissions

TEDxIBYork is a 2‐day event where IB Diploma students from around the world come together to hear a series of short, riveting talks on a wide variety of topics surrounding the theme “What in the World”. The event is modeled after the world‐renowned TED conference, where speakers are challenged to give a short, accessible talk that is the  “best talk of their lives”. On the first of the two days students will give their own TEDtalks, one of which will be featured on the following day.

The TEDxIBYork conference this year will include a digital display of art works created by international students. IB Visual Arts Diploma students from around the world are invited to contribute a digital reproduction of their art work which is the “best art
work of their lives”. Students are to select their strongest work which ultimately conveys the importance and power of visual images to symbolize universal concepts and ideas. The art submitted will be looped and projected continually during the
entire duration of the first day of the TEDxIBYork event. In the spirit of this year’s TEDxIBYork theme, students are to consider their work in relation to the idea, “What in the World”.

Please encourage all IB Visual Arts Diploma students to take part in the new Visual arts component of this internationally renowned event.

All submissions of student art works are to be in plain text and are to include:
 The student’s name
 The title of the art work
 The student’s school
 The student’s country

This information will be included in the digital display of each slide. Please send all
submissions in jpeg format to The York School through marika_motiwalla@tys.on.ca
Please have all submissions in by October 31, 2010.
