Check out John DeAndrea's hyper-realistic sculptures at the DAM. They will only be on Display for a short period.
Denver artist John DeAndrea's hyper-realistic sculptures always turn heads. Linda—his portrait of a sleeping woman, which is not currently on view—is one of the most popular works in the DAM collection.To give his figures a strikingly human appearance, DeAndrea uses live models to create a plaster mold, which he casts in polyvinyl. The final sculpture is finished with painted details and applied hair. The casting process is illustrated in DeAndrea's Clothed Artist and Model, which is currently displayed on level four of the Hamilton Building.
